This week, 9-15 May 2022, is Mental Health Awareness week hosted by the Mental Health Foundation. This year's theme is ‘Loneliness’. Loneliness can affect each one of us and has a big impact on our mental, physical and lifestyle. Our connections and relationships to other are fundamental to our wellness and being able to reach out for support when we need it.
This Mental Health Awareness Week, we're raising awareness and promoting some practical steps you can take to reduce the impact of loneliness:
- Take a look at the Mental Health Foundation's help and advice on how to cope with loneliness and improve your mental health
- All Oldham residents over the age of 16 have free 24/7 access to online mental health support from Togetherall. Young people under 16 can access Kooth, the online mental wellbeing community.
- Read some of the Mental Health Foundation's collection of inspirational and moving stories of people's experiences of loneliness.
- Use the Mind Mental Health Awareness Week materials to help raise awareness
- Take part in some of the activities planned by Tameside, Oldham and Glossop (TOG) Mind
