A training course has been developed and will be delivered by members of Oldham’s Independent Domestic Violence Advisory (IDVA) team. It aims to equip practitioners with enhanced knowledge and skills to identify and respond appropriately to so called ‘honour’-based abuse.

This course provides an understanding of what constitutes So Called Honour Based Violence and Forced Marriage. The session focuses on how best to offer help and support and the responsibilities of practitioners within their own roles, highlighting national and local services who can offer support, including the use of forced marriage protection orders and the one chance rule. The course will look at which communities are affected with an overview of the local picture.
